Daktronics Scoreboards
The easiest way to connect a Daktronics scoreboard to ScoreScrape is through the RTD (I/O) port on the back of the controller. On newer All Sport 5000 controllers this port is often labeled J6.
The RTD (I/O) Port
RTD output streams live scoreboard data over serial, which is the most reliable way to feed ScoreScrape. Locate the DB25 I/O port on the back of your controller. On many All Sport 5000 units it's labeled J6.
What You’ll Need
We’ve tested and confirmed the following hardware works with Daktronics RTD output.
USB-to-Serial Adapter
FTDI chipset strongly recommended for reliable communication.
View tested adapterDB9-to-DB25 Null Modem Cable
Connects the adapter to the controller’s I/O (DB25) port.

FTDI-based adapters have the most dependable drivers across Windows and macOS. Cheaper chipsets (like some CH340/Prolific clones) can drop connections or fail to enumerate a serial port.
Setup
- 1
Connect the cables
With the controller powered off, connect everything end to end:
- Plug the USB end of the adapter into your computer.
- Plug the DB25 end of the cable into the I/O (DB25) port on the back of the controller.
- Plug the DB9 male end of the cable into the DB9 female end of the adapter.

Launch the Bridge app and connect
Open the ScoreScrape Bridge software and paste in your Bridge ID, choose the serial port that matches your adapter, then click Connect.
With everything plugged in and the controller powered on, you should see a green light next to Connected and next to RX in the app.

Confirm it in the dashboard
Head back to your ScoreScrape dashboard. The bridge should now show as connected there too.

Set Brand, Model, and Sport
This is the step people miss most often. In the dashboard, set:
Brand
Daktronics
Model
RTD
Sport
Your sport
Don't skip this
Choosing the wrong Model, or leaving it unset, is the most common reason scores don't appear. Set Brand to Daktronics, Model to RTD, and Sport to whatever you're broadcasting, then click Save.
After you save, live data from your scoreboard shows up in the right-hand panel of the dashboard.
Common Issues
No serial port shows up in the Bridge app
This is almost always a driver issue. Confirm you’re using an FTDI-based adapter and install the FTDI VCP drivers. Try a different USB port and reconnect the adapter after the app is open.
Connected, but RX light stays off
RX means data is arriving. If it’s off, verify the DB25 is seated in the I/O port, the controller is powered on, and you’re using a null modem cable. A straight-through cable will connect but won’t pass data.
Connected everywhere, but no scores in the dashboard
Double-check Step 4: Brand must be Daktronics, Model must be RTD, and Sport must match what you’re broadcasting. Save the settings and the right-hand panel will populate.
